A Little Bit About the Athletes

Haley Nakonechni is eighteen years old and has been in gymnastics for her whole life! She has been a part of the trampoline and tumbling program at Gymnastics Adventure for over half of her life and has been a national athlete for the past four years. Haley has been a finalist at nationals five times, three times in double mini and twice in trampoline. Her best results came at the most recent Canadian Championships in Oshawa, Ontario where she placed second on Trampoline and on Double Mini in the Level 6 (18+) category. Her score on Double Mini was enough for her to mobilize to the Senior category and also solidified her spot for the World Age Group Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria where she will be representing Canada!

Danielle Grieve is nineteen years old and has also been in gymnastics for the majority of her life. She was formerly an artistic gymnast but switched over to trampoline and tumbling when she was twelve years old. Danielle has been a national athlete since 2012 and has been turning out great results ever since, but 2017 has been her best year so far! At the Canada Cup event this year in Calgary, Danielle took first place in Level 5 (16+) Tumbling and Level 6 (18+) Double Mini, she also took first place at the Canadian Championships in Oshawa, Ontario in Level 6 (18+) Double Mini category! Her score from Canadian Championships was enough for her to mobilize to the Senior category which got her an invite to Third Trials to Worlds in Montreal! After an awesome performance at Third Trials Danielle qualified for the senior national team! She competed at a world cup event in Valladolid, Spain at the beginning of October and will be heading to Sofia, Bulgaria to compete for Team Canada at World Championships!

Danni Roy, Haley and Danielle’s coach, has been coaching at Gymnastics Adventure for almost ten years and has been a competitive trampoline and tumbling coach for the past seven years. Danielle took over running the Trampoline & Tumbling program at Gymnastics Adventure in the Fall of 2013 with less than twenty athletes, and the highest level athlete at the time was competing in the Level 3 category. Fast forward to 2017, where fourteen athletes from Gymnastics Adventure qualified for the Sask First Team, five athletes competed at Western Canada Cup for Team Saskatchewan, eight athletes competed at Canadian Championships and took home seven medals, four of which were gold. Now we also have two senior athletes, both of which are heading to Sofia, Bulgaria to compete for Team Canada!
