Pre-school Gymnastics Classes

Boys & Girls 3 to 5 years

Pre-school Gymnastics Classes (For ages 3 to 6 years old)

The Pre-school Gymnastics program is for independent children ages 3 to 6 years old, and focuses on gross motor skills. Gross motor skills are the abilities required in order to control the large muscles of the body for walking, running, sitting, crawling, and other activities. Gross motor skills develop over a relatively short period of time, and most gross motor skill development occurs during childhood. Through gymnastics, your child will develop coordination, balance, flexibility, agility and strength. Through this process, your child will also increase self-esteem and self-confidence. It is important to follow the levels appropriately to ensure your child does not miss out on the core skills to progress to each level accordingly. Remember: The key to successful skills is practice! You will see a lot of practicing and repetition in classes at this age level.

Gym Frog 1 3 years to 4 years old. 45-minute class focusing on equipment set up in circuits. This class is for children ages 3 to 4 years old. Our structure continues to be like the Movement Program in this class – learning and practicing movement skills using circuits, songs, games, and manipulatives. Whiles we mainly use circuits to practice movement and fundamental skills, we also begin to practice learning skills that use stations. When using stations, we are helping the participants practice social skills like taking turns and repeating skills several times in a row. An example of stations is the floor. We will set up 3 or 4 spaces to learn things like forward roll, cartwheel, shape jumps, etc. Participants will be asked to work on a skill and practice it a couple times before they are instructed to switch to the next skill. Participants should be able to work independently in this class.

Gym Frog 2 4 years to 4.5 years old. 45-minute class focusing on circuits and stations. This class is for children ages 4 to 4.5 years old. During this class, we work on developing social and movement skills using stations, songs, games, and manipulatives. Classes may have the opportunity to use circuits to supplement the class, but the focus is to work with the participants to practice using stations. We start using the following events: floor, bars, and beams. The class is 45 minutes in length, and the participants should be able to participate independently.

Gym Frog 3 – 4.5 years to 5 years old. 60-minute class focusing on stations. In this class, participants are practicing fundamental gymnastics skills using stations on events like bars, floor, beam, and fast track trampoline. They will also play games, and use songs and manipulatives during class. This class is an hour in length each week and the participants should be able to work independently.

Gym Frog 4 5 years old. 60-minute class focusing on stations. Gym frog 3 & 4 are similar in structure. They are practicing fundamental gymnastics skills using stations on events like bars, floor, beam, and fast track trampoline. Some skill development differs between Gym Frog 3 and 4 – though these groups are generally combined as skill level and age is similar. They will also play games, and use songs and manipulatives during class. Gym Frog 3 is for 4.5 to 5.5 years old, while Gym Frog 4 participants are 5 to 6 years old. This class is an hour in length each week and the participants should be able to work independently.

Super Frog 5 to 6 years old. Must have completed Gym Frog 4, or be recommended by a coach. This is a 90-minute class focusing on further progression and challenging stations. We would like participants to have some experience in the gym, enjoy gymnastics, and are capable of participating in a class that is an hour and a half long. Participants will get a 5-minute break for this lengthy class, and they will continue to develop fundamental skills on the bars, beam, floor, and fast track trampoline. This class will allow for more opportunity to practice and develop skills at a more challenging level.
