School Age Artistic Gymnastics Classes
Girls 6 to 16 yearsSchool Age Artistic Gymnastics Classes (For ages 6 and older)
The School Age Gymnastics Program builds upon the development of gross motor skills as children work on strength, power, flexibility and agility in a fun and encouraging environment through specific events in the gym. Participants will practice skills on the bars, beams, vault, and floor. Specific gymnastics skills are taught through a system of levels. Participants will move through these levels based on the skills that they achieve. This may mean practicing the level more than once if certain skills are trickier than others. You will be able to review the skill progress at the end of the session through your account on Parent Portal. Please note that the first classes always review basics and landings for the coaches to practice safety in the gym, review skills, as well as get to know the participants.
Girls Introductory – 6 years to 8 years old. This class includes the basics of the Artistic Recreational Program. The main focus is practicing the fundamentals of gymnastics skills. This class is 60 minutes long each week.
Girls Intermediate – Must have completed introductory level. This 90-minute class includes skills that progress in the Artistic Recreational Program. Participants continue to develop and add on to skills that are obtained in the introductory class. Participants must have been recommended and completed Girls Intro prior to enrolling in the Intermediate class.
Girls Advanced – Must have completed Intermediate level. This 2-hour class includes more challenging skills that progress in the Artistic Recreational Program. Participants must have been recommended and complete the Intermediate class prior to enrolling. Participants will continue to develop and add on to skills obtained in the intermediate class. As the skills are more challenging and more are added to this progressive level, this may mean that the participant takes more than one session of this level to complete all of the skills practiced.
