Both Brenna and I are incredibly excited for the girls 1st competition of the season. It’s been a busy few months (and there is still lots of hard work to be done) but Ice Breaker will be a great way for them to get a quick taste of what the rest of competition season will look like. I just have a few quick notes about competitions.

Hair and Makeup
  • Hair is to be curled and put into a slicked back, high pony (so that it sits right on the top of their head). If you are worried about the curls falling, we recommend curlers.
  • The girls can have light blue eye shadow in the inner corners of their eyes and dark blue shadow on the outside.
  • They can also have liner, mascara, pink blush and pink lips as well.
  • Hairspray is our friend – please try to slick down any fly away hairs.
  • I plan to bring some supplies of my own for emergencies but I would pack everything in their bags just in case you need me to do any touch ups or fixes.
  • Girls should come to the competition in full hair and makeup.
General Notes
  1. Please label all of their things – kids (even adults) will lose all their stuff especially when it all looks the same.
  2. Pack lots of snacks – some competitions have limited healthy options and kids will get very tired.
  3. We recommend going early if you plan to watch – Some may have a “fan section” that will empty after each performance. If they do not have this kind of seating many competitions will get full early, so it is best to plan ahead.
  4. Bring cash if you are interested in purchasing anything – there will be vendors for snacks, clothes and most likely the door fee will require cash.
  5. Athletes should arrive early – most mat times are before the competition starts, that being said if we are late for our mat time, we do not get to recover that time so please make sure you are on time
  6. We are nothing without your bitty! Please understand that your child must be at competitions. If they are not there (within reason), the team will be unable to perform.
  7. Competitions are loud – if you have very little ones, I would bring ear plugs.
  8. Pack activities – the girls will most likely want to wander around together in their spare time but in the off chance they are feeling a little introverted, I would bring something just in case.
Thank you and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
